If you advise engineering students, during the busy months ahead you may find the following opportunity interesting to students who are planning to take foundational engineering courses this summer.

In 2015, UW-Madison will offer three-credit fully online summer courses in statics, dynamics and strength of materials suitable for students pursuing degrees in mechanical, civil or aerospace engineering, among other disciplines. I would not characterize them as “easy” given the subject matter, but “convenient” fits in that they would work well for students who are employed and don’t want to commute to campus, or for international students. The faculty members teaching them are the same instructors who teach the courses during the regular academic year; they are excellent instructors who are experienced with distance education.
