The College Board is now accepting applications for the AP Fellows and AP Rural Fellows grant programs that provides AP Summer Institute scholarships to qualifying high school teachers. Deadlines to apply areFebruary 15.

The AP Fellows program offers scholarships to high school teachers at schools serving low-income or minority students who have been traditionally underrepresented in AP courses. The $1,000 scholarships cover the cost of APSI tuition; any remaining funds may be applied to travel and expenses. Applicants must teach in schools at which at least 50 percent of the student population consists of underrepresented minorities and/or at least 50 percent of the student population qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch.Apply now.

The AP Rural Fellows Program offers scholarships to teachers serving in rural areas of the country. The $1,500 scholarships cover APSI tuition as well as travel and expenses. Applicants must teach in schools that are classified as “rural” by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and at which at least 50 percent of the students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Apply now.

The College Board will pay the full tuition directly to the AP Summer Institute you attend. You or your district or school will be responsible for any additional travel, lodging, graduate credit, or other expenses beyond the scholarship amount. You may wish to consult your institution’s policies regarding your participation.
If you are considering attending a Biology APSI this summer in Maine, the dates for the Bowdoin College APSI are July 13-17and the St. Joe’s APSI will be July 20-24.  If you have questions about either of these the Biology APSIs feel free to contact me.
