The 2015 US Pacific Territories Capacity-Building Scholarship provides funding to college students with close ties to American Samoa, Guam or the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, who are US citizens or nationals, so they can obtain an undergraduate or graduate degree from a fisheries focused program at the University of Hawaii at Hilo, University of Hawaii’s Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology, Hawaii Pacific University or the University of Guam. It also includes a paid internship and a commitment to work in a local US Pacific Territory agency (one year service for each year of scholarship).

This scholarship is part of an MOU signed by representatives from 13 secondary education institutions, local agencies and federal agencies that comprise the Education Committee of the Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council.  To read the MOU, go to http://www.wpcouncil.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Education-MOU-signed-and-scanned2.pdf.
