Please find below details of two doctoral funding opportunities for students wishing to work with me (Jo Setchell) in Durham Anthropology starting in October 2015:

  1. A NERC Doctoral Training Partnership (Iapetus) Studentship on “Multi-modal signaling in mandrills”, in collaboration with Dr Kate Abernethy, University of Stirling. See attached advert for details.
  1. Durham Doctoral Studentships. Prestigious studentships open to International students in all fields and to Home/EU students in fields not supported by the ESRC, AHRC, or NERC doctoral studentships. I am keen to hear from prospective students who share my research interests (https://www.dur.ac.uk/anthropology/staff/academic/?id=5345).

The Department requires all student applications to have been submitted by 26 January 2015 for consideration for the next stage of the competition. You will need to contact me in advance of the deadline to work on your application.

These opportunities are highly competitive, necessitating:

– A strong academic background (first class first degree, distinction at masters)

– English language competency

– Strong references

– An outstanding academic pedigree and research potential, evidenced through the publication of articles, participation in academic conferences and other similar activities.

To avoid unnecessary disappointment please see the Anthropology Department’s internal procedures for this competition (https://www.dur.ac.uk/anthropology/postgraduatestudy/funding/) before contacting me.
