The UHM Library, Outreach College, and the Office of Faculty Development and Academic Support present Open Access Week at UHM from October 20-27, 2014.

Learn about and share your experiences with Open Access (OA) — the free, immediate, online access to the results of scholarly research, and the right to use and reuse those results as you need. OA has the potential to maximize research investments, increase the exposure and use of published research, facilitate the ability to conduct research across available literature, and enhance the overall advancement of scholarship.

Join us for the following presentations:

Open Educational Resources at the Outreach College on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, from 1:30-2:30 p.m., featuring Dr. William Chismar, Dean of Outreach College, who will discuss the College’s OER initiatives.

Emerging Issues in Open Access on Monday, October 27, 2014, from 2:00-3:30 p.m., featuring speaker Nick Shockey, Director of Programs and Engagement at SPARC and Director of the Right to Research Coalition, which comprises student organizations that advocate for more open scholarly publishing practices.
