The University of Alabama at Birmingham seeks applications for a full professor who will serve as Chair of the Department of Anthropology beginning August 2014. Preference will be given to candidates in cultural anthropology but applications from all subfields will be considered. Area and topical interests are open but should complement those found within the department. Applicants must have a PhD, a substantial publication record, a record of obtaining external support, and an ongoing research agenda. The successful candidate will have administrative experience and vision to lead a small four-field department that emphasizes quality undergraduate and graduate instruction and research excellence.
