Aloha e kakou:

The Department of Native Hawaiian Health at the University of Hawai’i’s medical school has just completed an important 50 page report summarizing the health status and needs for Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Peoples. The report entitled “Assessment & Priorities for Health and Well-being” of Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Peoples” includes information from scientific studies, government reports, and significantly from key interviews with organizations in Hawai’i and the continental U.S. serving Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Peoples. So voice is given from both the scientific and community perspectives. It was recently presented before the four Hawai’i State Legislative committees which has lead to collaborative discussions on new policy initiatives.

We appreciate your interest and commitment to establish health equity, particularly for minority populations such as Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders. A pdf copy of the Report is attached and it can also be downloaded from the University of Hawai’i‘s Center for Native & Pacific Health Disparities Research website: http://www3.jabsom.hawaii.edu/native/index.htm
